One very simple definition for me is best described from Matthew 16:26 (NIV) - "What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" You can have everything the world has to offer, but if your relationships to God and other people are not right, it will be very empty for you in the long run.

Although I cannot find the quote, there is a scientist who has said that evolution has to be true, because well, it has to. Wish I could find the quote.
